Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan with almost a population of 23,741,000. With such a big population, a lot of problems tend to rise up but Karachi’s main problem for years have been garbage. Karachi produces 14000 – 16000 tons of waste on a daily bases and without having a proper garbage system the mess we see now is not surprising.

Looking at this, Government of Sindh launched a campaign called ‘Clean my Karachi’ back in September hoping to clean Karachi and give the city of lights a refreshed look. The main aim of the Government was to clean the city and hand it over to the DMCs to further maintain it. Over 600 dumpers, shovels, tractors and 4000 workers participated in the one month long campaign on a daily bases to help cure the garbage problem in Karachi.

It is reported that the deputy commissioners were given 50 million each along with temporary garbage transfer stations. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister the garbage lifting work was divided on sub-division levels. Each division was given tractors, shovels and other necessary equipment needed in the campaign from the government. At the end of the campaign the estimated amount of solid waste collected at these sites was 370,504 tonnes which included 13,790 from South district, 52,152 from East district, 24,292 from Malir district, 93,630 from Korangi district, 96, 705 from West district and 89,935 Central district.

But the main question is that has this campaign by the government really solved the garbage problem of Karachi? Some might say yes it has but a vast majority of people fail to agree with this. The garbage problem in Karachi has been going on for years, years and years of waste has compiled to bring the huge mess we have at our disposal.

The project shows an intent from the government in-order to make Karachi clean but they haven’t emphasized on the real reason why Karachi has garbage problem in the first place. 40% of Karachi’s garbage is found out on the streets which have been causing various diseases and environmental pollution.

While talking to a residence of Korangi he stated that: ‘The government has done a good job but they clean the area and next day it is back in the same shape. This is due to the negligence of the residents and the solid waste management’.

There are no proper areas made for the residents to throw their waste at hence they tend to throw them on the roads. As much as the residents are to be blamed the solid waste management are to be blamed too who seem to be doing nothing to solve this problem.

The Deputy Director (Media) Ms. Almas Saleem was too busy to have a say on this issue while being contacted through phone which shows how serious people within the Solid waste management are.

‘Clean my Karachi’ was another farce with Karachi, lots of promises with no delivery. The credibility of the SIndh Government and other departments once again is being questioned due to another failed campaign. There was a lot of money spent in this campaign, or shall is say, allotted to various deputy commissioners. Looking at the garbage state of Karachi a month after the campaign shows that the money was not spent the right way and the real cause of the problem was never addressed.

Analysis:

This blog ,by far, is my favourite and what I like the most about this, is its title and how it perfectly reflects the plight of the ever neglected city, Karachi. The biggest responsibility of the writer, in my opinion, is to raise awareness and be the voice of the unheard by addressing the real issues of the society in his/her writing and this blog is just that.

The blog raises awareness as to how Sindh Government is found upfront when it comes to making promises and ‘error 404 not found’ when its about deliverance of their promises. The blog mentions the biggest problem of Karachi i.e Garbage. To address the alarming situation of Karachi, caused by garbage is really important as this is the reason why hundreds of the citizens lose their homes or even lives every year in the monsoon season. The facts and figures & statistics in this blog are up to date as I checked all of them and found they are 100% correct. This blog accurately sheds light on the issues of Karachi, caused by mismanagement of garbage and solid waste, while also pointing fingers at credibility of the Government of Sindh who has failed to address the issues of karachi.

Anxiety is like a monster—living under your bed—ready to attack you by tarnishing your confidence and disturbing your gut.

For those with an anxiety issue, it’s critical to investigate systems that can help oversee or lessen tension in the long term, like therapy or taking medication. In any case, everybody can profit from different approaches to decrease anxiety and nervousness with the help of certain alternations in your daily life, for example, eating with a routine, restricting yourself from unhealthy habits, and having a positive approach towards life. You can get rid of your anxiety by following these five tips.

.

1. Follow the 3-3-3 standard.

Have a good look around you. Name three things you see. At that point, name three sounds you hear. At last, move three pieces of your body – your lower leg, fingers, or arm. At whatever point you feel your cerebrum going 100 miles for every hour, this psychological stunt can help focus your brain, taking you back to the current second.

2. Figure out How to Self-Soothe.

Imagine coming Infront of a deadly monster —or more awful, your teacher scolding you for not meeting a deadline. At the point when we are confronted with an anxiety instigating circumstance, our body’s sympathetic nervous system automatically triggers physiological changes. Our breathing increases, adrenaline is emitted, and our heart starts to race. This reaction is called flight or fight reaction. It occurs when we have to get away from a valid, hazardous crisis. Nonetheless, when the danger is envisioned (e.g. I will ruin the class presentation and everybody will know I’m a cheat), the battle or flight reaction is pointless and truly awkward.

To cope up with this reaction do Positive Self-talk.

We often know how to relax others; we say it to our friends that don’t worry you will ace your presentation. But we never comfort ourselves. The best way to make ourselves feel comfortable is positive self-talk. When anxious, practice phrases such as “This feeling will pass”, “I will get through this”, “I am safe right now”, “I am feeling anxious now, but I have the power make myself calm” and “I can feel my heart rate slowing down.

3. Stay away from sugar.

It might be enticing to go after something sweet when you’re focused, yet that chocolate bar can accomplish more damage than anything else, according to research eating an excessive amount of sugar can exacerbate on edge emotions. Rather than venturing into the treats bowl, drink a glass of water or eat protein. This will give moderate energy your body can use to recoup.

4. Breath in breath out

Profound breathing helps to beat anxiety. Take a huge breath in, feel the belly expanding, feel the lungs full of air. Hold on to the breath (without closing off the throat), just for 2-3 seconds. Breathe all of that air out, in a relaxed, long way. You could almost make it an audible sigh (making a ‘ha’ sound). Repeat for 1 minute.

5. Just do something.

If you’re having an anxiety attack, just stand up and do something. Whatever you are doing doesn’t have to be important. Just try to play tricks with your brain. Try to interrupt your brain’s thoughts. Take a walk around, do some house chores, clean up the dishes. Any action that tricks your sensory neurons will work at this point.

Would you like to press the rewind and play button for last year if given a chance? Probably No, right? No one would want to back to the year with some of the most dreadful and distressing incidents. It is not just the ‘Global Pandemic’ that we are talking about, but it is also some of the most devastating news that broke the world. Be it the Australian Bushfire, Beirut Explosion, Pakistan Airline Crash, or the death of many known public figures, 2020 just couldn’t get any worse. The natural disasters in 2020 brought catastrophic results for millions across nations in 2020. They not only caused thousands of deaths but also billions of paper notes which caused shaky effects on numerous economies. Who would’ve imagined that the world will come to such a still? No one would’ve ever thought that the most ‘Positive’ word in the world will turn out to be so negative. Nor would have anyone thought about how Social Distancing will become the new normal. It was difficult and is still is. People have now adjusted to the new trends which is like the biggest change one witnesses. It is no more the same as it used to be all the way. With online learning capturing the traditional methods, the closure of fine-dine restaurants, restrictions on public events, people have adapted and so have evolved for better. Everyone now realises the value of existence and how important it is to have your loved ones by your side. We’ve tried our best and we can still try to modify ourselves according to the constant changes so that all the hardships and difficulties can one day fade away.

Analysis:

The choice of the writer to select this topic for writing a blog is great because the year 2020- the year in which the global pandemic started- deserves a mention and is suitable for getting audience’s attention as to why this year was the worse and what made the pandemic year the worst time of our lives.

In spite of the topic being great I think few things could be improved or change to make it better for example, the writer is calling the year 2020 as the worst and horrific year but fails to mention or dive into the details to remind the audience what actually happened or what really made it the worst year of our lives. I’m very well aware of the fact that no one really wants to know how the pandemic started and how it impacted our lives by causing a direct and serious effect on our health- be it physical health or mental health- socialising, mobility, economy of several counties, and the death of our loved ones but it is the responsibility of the writer to give a flashback of everything that happened if he/she covering a certain topic, even if the people already know, for example the writer mentioned Australian bush fires, Beirut Explosion, Pakistan Airline Crash and the demise of the many well known personalities in her blog but given the devastating situation amid the pandemic, not everyone really knows what Australian Bush fire was and how is it so important to deserve a mention in the blog so the writer needed to give a brief detailing of these incidents. Sharing the context and the background of things makes it easier for the audience to engage in your story telling and keeps them hooked to the story till the end and this is exactly what this blog lacks otherwise the overall topic is really good.
